Tips To Improve Search Engine Ranking
I think most everyone would agree that lack of traffic from poor search engine ranking is not good for your website and a high position in the search engine results is highly desired. As is widely known, the first things you should do to improve search engine ranking are optimize your web pages, get quality back links and put great original content on your website. No matter how competitive your niche is, you should pay attention to these elements.
But what should your focal point be?
The most important thing on your page is the keywords you are targeting. Try to think of some key statements or phrases that embody what you’re saying on the page that will undergo the ranking process. Carefully researching your keywords will help to get a targeted phrase that has little competition. Selecting the terms that will be used to position your pages is something you should spend most of your time doing.
Search engines look at both on page and off page factors when ranking a web page. What you actually put on the page is an “on page factor.” This includes, meta tags, alt tags, titles and the content itself. When your rankings get better and more people visit your site, better content improves the chances that they will buy something or perform the appropriate action.
Using your keyword phrase in the description and keyword meta tags, the title and in the beginning, middle and end of the content will help to improve search engine ranking. Having the phrase about 3 times will be best - don’t overuse it. Also, you want to use the keyword in your filename.
But what’s on the page is not as significant as what’s off the page. This means the links that point back to your page. Links to your page should include the keyword phrase in the anchor text as often as possible. Try to vary your anchor text, by using paraphrases of the keyword(s) for an unstilted effect. Of course, some links are better than others, such as those from high quality sites with highly relevant content; but even links from pages of general interest can be helpful.
To improve search engine ranking, you should try to get as many links as possible. The inbound links are what will get your site in front of visitors and the content on your page is what will keep them coming back. You can land on the first page of most of the search engines by achieving more links than competing sites, assuming everything else is equal.
